What to know:
Which letters are "Captivity Letters", "Pastoral Letters"? To whom was ____ destined? How many chapters do the letters contain? to which churches are two letters directed? Which letters EXPLICITLY mention a scribe or amanuensis? Which letters add something to the customary salutatory greeting? Which letters speak of our Savior God? Which letters are most full of praise? of reproach? of a specific and rather singular request? which chapters of the Acts of the Apostles discuss St. Paul's journeys? which chapters contain the narration of St. Stephen's martyrdom and of Saul's subsequent conversion?
Final project: choose three of the Greek words which we have discussed in class. Write a three to five-page paper (DOUBLE SPACED and NO FRONT AND BACK - this may be typed and printed, if you wish) on the meaning in classical antiquity compared (and perhaps contrasted, if quite distinct) to its "enriched" meaning in the context of St. Paul's letters. To be handed in or mailed to me by April 16
Epistle to the Hebrews: why do some scholars say that St. Paul could not be the author? what evidence do biblicists have in favor of Pauline inspiration/authorship? which do you side with - are is the case evenly made?
